Boston 2010: A Huge Success

AACRC's annual conference, held in Boston, MA in April, proved to be an overwhelming success.  Collaborating with the Alliance for Children and Families' National Leadership Conference on Child Welfare Issues, AACRC's traditional focus on residential treatment was expanded to include sessions on leadership in the child welfare field.

Trauma informed care and Building Bridges were emphasized in Boston, with many session incorporating these themes.  Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Stuart Ablon, Janice LeBel, Beth Caldwell, Dr. Gary Blau were some of the plentiful experts present to offer new and innovative information to all conference attendees.

AACRC Releases Newest Position Paper! Seventh in Series: Youth Guided Treatment

Redefining Residential: Youth-Guided Treatment is the outgrowth of a partnership between AACRC, CAFETY (Community Alliance for the Ethical Treatment of Youth; www.cafety.org), and YouthMOVE (Youth Motivating Others through Voices of Experience; www.youthmove.us).  We are excited to have been asked to collaborate with AACRC in creating this document, as the association continues a series of policy papers that highlight new trends and promising practices in residential care.

From the National Director

You have likely noticed a change in the National Director's name.  Never fear, our director has not left!  Kari Behling has become Kari Sisson and is still here to serve our members and the field.
